We have some excellent news this evening. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean‘s awesome Google Now feature, also known as Google Search has just received a very nifty update from Google today adding tons of awesome features. As many of you know Google Now gives weather and traffic alerts, sports scores and more all in neat and easy to read cards. Now they’ve added tons of new notification cards and the option to edit teams.

Google has just issued the update this evening and it focuses on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean devices with full Google Now capabilities. Before you could do awesome things like search for sports scores and then it would remember your favorite team and give you alerts. What if that search was just for a friend? Yup I searched for SF Giants during Google IO and apparently I’m now a San Fransisco Giants fan — when I clearly am not. This is probably the most exciting part of the update for me. Here’s the changelog:

* Movies – see movie showtimes and more
* Public alerts – receive emergency messages such as storm warnings and earthquake alerts
* Add favorite sports teams to follow in real time (from Settings)
* Support for Korea

Now you can search for a movie and get alerts on showtimes in your area, all based on location. You’ll get public alerts for local weather like flash flood warnings, hurricanes (watch out NO), and many other local alerts. Then last but certainly not least is the option to add, edit, and follow in real time all your favorite sports teams. Awesome! Now I can finally get Green Bay Packers alerts all season long. Thanks Google. Oh and Go Rodgers!

They’ve also added support for Korean, and we’ll be getting more language support in future updates. The brand new Google Now update is available right this moment as we speak on the Play Store right here. If you still haven’t seen our awesome demo of these awesome features be sure to check out our Google Now hands-on video.
