For those of you all saddened by the wait for Android 2.2 Froyo for your Galaxy S device, you’ve got a response from T-Mobile now. Having supposedly delivered Android 2.2 for Galaxy S owners by December 1st, T-Mobile now says thusly: “Unfortunately the 2.2 update will not be available via KIES today as expected and Samsung have confirmed that FOTA will not feature as part of this update, but should appear at a later date. …Samsung are indicating the firmware will be made available at some point next week. We’ll keep you posted with further updates as we get them.” This response appeared on their support forum. Next week! Hooray!

For those of you waiting, you know that another due date was back on November 30th – this was supposed to be made over the air. When speaking with TechRadar, T-Mobile said the following: “Regarding the Galaxy S [Android 2.2 update], T-Mobile are working on getting the update out as soon as possible. … More information will be provided in due course.” Maybe not next week? Awww.

  1. Hey, thats something good from T-Mobile… us Captivate owners are still in the dark. Initially it was September, then October, then November… so who knows when it will be…

  2. Don’t carrier your carrier they pretty much check it and release it if its an ota. Samsung is the one that has to develope the software. I just feel like they should have just focused on making a gingerbread update. We are about to get 2.2 and a new android version is coming out

  3. Obviously this is not about T-Mobile US. The post uses British English (e.g. “Samsung are” rather than “Samsung is.” Collective plurals are always a dead giveaway.)

  4. So it appears that the lesson is….. NO MATTER WHAT! If you are going to purchase a Android device in the future whether it be a better screen, worse screen, size, extra feature whatever….. Unless you do not care about running with the shipped build….. Buy an actual Google device. The Google device always will get the quicker updates and latest features! From now on I will buy the branded Google device for my next Android phone!
