We’ve been getting word from Target customers that due to severe product shortages, the Bulls Eye is canceling their Asus Transformer pre-orders. Customers following up by phone with Customer Service, however, are learning a different story – that the Transformer is actually just out of stock and that their orders aren’t canceled. Checking on Target’s Website, we found the Transformer listed as being out of stock. But whether it’s just out of stock or Target is giving up sending it out, many customers are frustrated and just plain angry.

Thank you for shopping at Target.com. Unfortunately, the following item is not currently available from any of our sources.
Asus Eee Pad Transformer 10.1″ Android Tablet (TF101-A1) with 16GB Hard Drive, 1GB Memory – Black/Brown

We have canceled this item from your order.

Earlier today we reported, Asus announcing they can only make about 10,000 units per month and that most were heading to Europe. A short production schedule is likely due to parts being in short supply. And that translates into retailer stocks being pretty low. And now, it’s apparent they’re running out.

Conspiracy theorists might think to link to Amazon where they may see the tablet ready to ship out the door – but take note! Amazon is supplied by Target, especially in this case you’ve got to know that the tablet wouldn’t come to your door any faster than if you’d ordered the same thing from a Target store. That is, unless you get some super sweet one day shipping deal out of Amazon. That’s always a possibility. As it stands now though, right around $600 is the best you’re going to be able to do.

      • My order has been cancelled from three different resellers and its getting frustrating. I tried one more place as fewer and fewer resellers are even taking preorders. If i get snubbed one more time then im giving up on this tablet completely.

  1. hey guys…. you know target supplies amazon right!? in fact didnt you guys report that in an article a little ways back. either way if im right our gonna be sending people into the samey situation as target?3

  3. Go to B&H photo and pre order…they have a date set of may 31st. I also like that the 31st is more conservative than the 2 to 4 week estimates i see popping up from other retailers….plus they have a great chat option for instant answers to customer service related inquiries. I mean I was given a estimated ship date of may 31st in under a minute and that information was given to me on 4/28. Help the smaller companies….they work extra hard at customer service to compensate for price undercutting from larger competitors. And go eee pad transformer…..If asus is gonna have a problem this current problem their having is a good one to have! Its top of the line tech (and out of the box thinking too with the keyboard/dock accessory) for more than a reasonable price. In fact it almost seems to good to be true…..maybe thats why everyones pre order got cancelled….

    • yeah …did they charge your card already??? if they did…thats shady. They shoudln’t be charging u until the item is ship. They should just check to see if u have funds only.

      • They did charge it…..but i think its ok. I look at it as a situation where i paid for my place in line to get one. However i do see a slippery slope forming around this issue if it becomes the standard to retail an item and know the manufacturer will not meet demand… even for pre orders

Nothing shady as long as we’re upfront about it, which we are – scrupulously.

  4. yes , they cancel mine too…that’s just shady business…someone should report Target. If they knew they can’t pre-order the item or offer discount they should not of advertise in the first place. I will never shop at target again.

  5. They cancelled my order via email today, but not before doing a $1.00 TEMP HOLD on my account. Not a huge deal, but still pissed since I cancelled my pre-order from another outlet due to a $40 discount coupon I found via Target. Oh well, by the time ASUS can actually get these to stores in bulk there may be a better alternative coming out. If not, I’ll grab a Transformer from a shelf at a local store!

  6. Guys, let’s focus our anger on the true source here – ASUS! As well as a the creeps buying up the stock and trying to resell them on ebay and amazon for a $200 – 300 mark up. How the heck did they buy so many at once? And who is supplying them, somewhere there is some insider crap going on…

  7. i just pre-order at abesofmaine.com. They are very competitive. I got abetter deal than Target. $10 off royalty for each tablet and the docking. No tax. free shipping. They said the next batch is beginning of June. All online retailers should get the batch at the same time. They got 350 pre-orders….guess this is a hot item.

    • abesofmine.com bunch of CROOKS.don’t order anything from them you will have problem nothing else EDA  of Asus transformer end of July

  8. Will never shop at target again because of the way they handled this situation! Terrible company!

    Walmart here i come!
