Up on stage while announcing the new Nexus 7 and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Google not only gave a quick demonstration on the highly anticipated Asphalt 8: Airborne game, but they quietly revealed the release date. All you gamers and racing fans will be happy to know the high octane title will hit Android on August 8th.
We’re not sure if Gameloft was ready to reveal the date or not, but Google dropped the news today on their live stream of the Nexus 7 announcement. Android Community has indeed confirmed the news with Gameloft. Now today they’re busy sending out a few details and information about the game, as well as a few new excellent screenshots showing just how stellar the graphics will be.
A big part of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is the new OpenGL ES 3.0 standards for graphics, and Gameloft has heavily optimized their upcoming title to fully take advantage of everything Google is offering. That being the 1080p HD display on the Nexus 7, the new Google Play Games app, and of course the latest performance tweaks in Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. I can’t wait to play this game! Here’s a few additional details on what we can expect:
– Brand new real physics engine
– 180 events, 47 licensed cars, new game modes
– Online simultaneous multiplayer action and asynchronous challenges, including friends and global leaderboards
– Social features, including Facebook, Google+, and Google Play Games.
Along with all this news, Gameloft was also nice enough to release three brand new screenshots showing some of the “airborne” moments we can expect to enjoy while playing this new title. Until today all we’ve seen is a few screenshots and the teaser video linked to below. But now we know this will be one of the best looking titles for Android, fully support Android 4.3, and will be available to all come August 8th. Stay tuned for the usual Android Community hands-on and full review.
