If you are a fan of Android devices, you will have no doubt noticed ZTE’s Axon 7 flagship phone. ZTE has outdone itself again by putting out a gorgeous and powerful flagship for 2016 at nearly just half the price of the top tier devices. But they’re not done yet, because some people still can’t put out the USD$400 for the Axon 7, and we all need a ZTE Axon 7 Mini to complete the set. Well, people asked for it, now it’s here.

There was a very strong possibility that ZTE would come out with a mini version of their flagship, and that’s what the ZTE Axon 7 Mini is – robust midrange specs, smaller and handier form factor, at 100 dollars cheaper than the flagship. What’s not to like? ZTE puts the same AMOLED technology on the display up front, but this time it’s smaller at 5.2 inches, Full HD resolution (1080p). That is powered by a very capable octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, supported by 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Suffice it to say, this phone should be able to handle all your normal and daily processes without too much trouble.

Apart from that, you also get the Gorilla Glass 4 protection, the Dolby Atmos audio with two front-facing speakers, a capable 16MP/8MP camera combo, and a 2,700mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0. Everything runs under Android Marshmallow, but a Nougat update should be forthcoming. If you’re looking for a great deal at USD$300, the ZTE Axon 7 Mini puts out a strong argument for itself.

At this time, the Axon 7 Mini is available for pre-order – the Ion Gold variant is exclusively available at Best Buy for the first 60 days, and the Platinum Grey variant available with Amazon, Newegg, and B&H. If you’re looking for a decent upgrade that wouldn’t break the bank, this might be a good option.

  1. If they hadn’t neutered the specs I would’ve returned my Axon 7 for it. Love the smaller screen and on screen nav keys.
