Two years ago, Zeiss introduced a virtual reality headset that could rival that of the Samsung Gear VR. Simply called the VR One, it was a pretty good device, but at that time consumers still weren’t convinced that virtual reality will be an actual thing. But now that VR has been making headway into the market, then it’s time to release a new, more updated version of it. And that’s exactly what Zeiss is doing as they announced the VR One Plus and it will make its debut at the E3 Expo in LA this week.

The headset has the same ergonomics, quality, and precision of the original headset, but of course, there have also been some improvements made. For one, it now has a universal smartphone tray so that any device, as long as it has a screen size of 4.7-5.5 inches, regardless if it’s Android or iOS can be used with the headset. It also now has a removable head strap, a removable front faceplate, and foam inserts so that you can configure the headset according to what you need.

To show off what the VR One Plus will be able to do, it will be showcased with three virtual reality “use cases”. One of them is a hidden object game based on the movie Now You See Me 2 (hopefully in the game you will see something). The headset will also be integrated with the DJI Inspire 1, where you can have a first-person experience with your drone. Lastly, they have a partnership with Dacuda with a plug and play Steam-enabled solution so you can have an immersive room-scale VR experience usually reserved for high-end VR headsets.

Zeiss hasn’t yet released a price point for the VR One Plus. It will be available in retail stores and online stores by August.
