Even before the 7th episode of the humungous Star Wars film franchise hit theaters, it was already breaking records for having most tickets pre-sold. And now that it actually has shown on screens, it’s breaking even more records left and right, having an international earning of $517 million on just its opening weekend. It will now attempt another feat by becoming the most pre-ordered movie on devices, as you can now already pre-order the movie through Google Play Movies.

It’s not unusual for movies to be pre-ordered early on, but probably not when they’re still in the theaters. But that’s precisely what Disney is doing, making sure that people get to order the movie already while the hype is still fresh in their minds. And given that both critics and the audience have been raving about how good the movie is, then you can expect that people won’t mind shelling out already the money for a digital copy of the movie, even though it will probably be months before it comes out.

Of course some might say it’s actually pretty silly to pre-order something that will not run out of stocks, but if you’re a huge fan of anything Star Wars, you’d probably want to be one of the first to get a digital copy. In the meantime, you can buy the soundtrack, which is available on Google Play Music for $11.49 or $1.29 per track in the 23-track album.

Pre-ordering The Force Awakens on Google Play Movies will cost you $14.99 for the SD version while if you want the HD, it will be $19.99. There is no specific date of release though, but expect that to be much, much later. You will be informed through email once the digital copy you bought is ready for download.
