The “holy grail” setup for most modders and tweakers of Android devices is if you can run Xposed Framework on it – that is, have a working and stable system that allows you to install the tweaks you want, when you want it. The problem is, Xposed Framework must be embedded deep into the innards of Android that it usually takes a long time and a miracle to have it working on a system. It took a while for it to be stable on Lollipop, but good news for us – the coding for Xposed on Marshmallow is getting there.

Xposed Framework was created by XDA developer “rovo89”, and it seems that the popular coder has been hard at work in getting Xposed ported over to Android 6.0. There are many challenges to this, as you might imagine, because more than an aesthetic change, Marshmallow has some deep source code changes from Lollipop. In rovo89’s own words, this process is “more difficult than 5.0 -> 5.1”.

The good news is that according to the developer, the code is much more elegant in Marshmallow, and this will lead to “cleaner modifications”. That should be good news for all of you who have made the jump to Marshmallow.

The developer said that it has not gotten to a point where he can give a set schedule or an ETA, but he just wants people to know that the coding is generally progressing well. So that’s that from Xposed. We hope that you guys can wait some more, and just play around with stock Marshmallow for a while.

  1. I’ve not updated my nexus 5 to marshmallow as it would mean I would lose xposed . I would install marshmallow only when xposed framework for it is available
