The new flagship from Sony, the Xperia Z5 was declared as the smartphone with the best camera and video capture capability by DxO, considered the industry standard when it comes to this aspect of a device. And to brag about their camera even more, the Japanese OEM has released their newest camera update, which was actually previewed a few months ago at IFA. The good news is that if you have an older flagship and you rooted to, then you’ll be able to root this update for your device.

What is in this camera update anyways? Well, it’s nothing really major but put together a few small, nice things and you may be a happy customer. The camera app now boasts of a minimalist interface and better access to features that make it deserving of the “title” that DxO gave to them. The ability to just swipe and switch among the various options you have using the camera app is very much important because otherwise users will just switch to a better 3rd party app than using your phone’s default app.

While this update comes only for the Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium, if you have an older flagship device, there are ways and means to be able to get the Z5 Camera 2.0.0. You need to be rooted of course for this to work, and then you’d need to download the ZIP file and flash through recovery.

But if you have the latest Xperia Z5 of course, all you need to do is update your camera app. Then you’ll be able to enjoy the new interface of the camera as well as some other minor changes.
