If you’re an Android fan, it’s not likely that you might not know about Xiaomi’s MIUI – their own skinned version of Android. In fact, if you like tweaking your Android devices, chances are you might have tried a custom ROM based on MIUI at some point in time or another. But MIUI usually comes with Xiaomi’s official devices, and now the China-based device manufacturer is rolling out a stable MIUI 7 build for some of its international devices.
Xiaomi announced MIUI 7 in August, and most were expecting it to at least be based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. With a hash of new features, the disappointment was that it was still based on Android 4.4 Kitkat – with the software version for the Xiaomi Mi 4i the only one to make it up to Lollipop. So that remains a caveat for Xiaomi MIUI users.
This “global stable build” will be rolling out on October 27, together with a “China build” – which is of course, for the Xiaomi devices bought in China. The devices supported with the MIUI 7 Global build are these – the Xiaomi Mi Note, Mi 4, Mi 3, Redmi 2, Redmi Prime, Redmi 1S 3G, Redmi Note 4G, and the Mi Pad.
Xiaomi says that they are working to bring other Xiaomi devices under the support, but for now, these are the devices which will receive the new update. If you own an international Xiaomi device that is part of this update list, you can either wait for the OTA notification via the Xiaomi Updater app, or download the ROM from Xiaomi’s downloads page, and manually update your MIUI version.

Loved the interface of MIUI but couldn’t get it on my last couple of devices at all.
