Xiaomi has many new things in the works. There’s the Xiaomi foldable phone, that phone with a four-edged curved display, the Black Shark 2, and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G variant. Next in line is the Xiaomi Mi 9, the next-gen flagship from the Chinese OEM. Xiaomi may no longer be the top mobile brand in China but it’s definitely one of the most popular for being so prolific and innovative. This coming February 20, the same day as Samsung’s Unpacked event, Xiaomi will be announcing the Mi 9.

The phone known as “Battle Angel” internally is said to be more powerful than its predecessor. Of course, that is expected of any new flagship but we can’t confirm all the specs right now.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 has a famous Chinese celebrity for an endorser. Only those in China will understand but it’s TFBoys Wang Yuan who will be the face of the Mi 9.

Xiaomi has decided to implement a triple rear camera system in a vertical orientation. This will challenge the Huawei P20 Pro with the same number of rear cams but execs from Xiaomi are saying it will perform better.

Live images of the phone have surfaced, showing us the multiple cameras, glass back, and the shiny aurora blue tone. A notch is available but compared to the Mi 8, it’s smaller now.

Xiaomi is expected to sell the Mi 9 for only 4,000 yuan which is around $592 in the US. It’s a premium phone but we’re assuming this will be the high-specced variant. A lower-specced model could be available too with a 3000 yuan ($444) starting price.
