WhatsApp has been around for years and we’ve seen several updates and changes especial after Facebook purchased the startup for $19 billion. That was in 2014 and more than a couple of years later, WhatsApp finally got to make changes in its terms and privacy policy. Actually, it’s been four years since the WhatsApp team is updating its statement. This move now reflects that the company is not with Facebook and that numerous features have been added the past few years.
If you’re a regular WhatsApp user, you will notice a lot of changes but the best ones will remain. Expect no ads and no spam still. In the coming days, you may see more tightened security plus more accurate alters and notifications.
The WhatsApp team noted that is has added end-to-end encryption. They have also teamed up with Facebook and coordinated more with them so they can track metrics to fight possible spam or improve on service. Unfortunately or however you want to see it, WhatsApp is also said to share more data with Facebook. This way, companies may be able to send special promos, announcements, and adverts. WhatsApp is free and even if it promises “encryption”, some of your information like phone numbers may still be shared with third parties.
Don’t worry if you start getting annoyed by this because you can always opt out of data sharing.
