If you’re driving along in a place where you’re not familiar with how fast or slow vehicles should go, or if you’re passing through an area where the speed limits vary at the time of the day or the week, you would need expert guidance so you would not experience getting caught by the police for a violation you didn’t mean to make. In Waze’s latest update, you’ll now be able to know if how fast you’re driving is still legal or already violating the law.

On your Waze app, you’ll receive a visual notification that you’re already going beyond the speed limit when you’re driving through somewhere. The warning will appear on your speedometer and will not go away until you go below the limit. You will be able to customize this feature so that the alert will appear either when you’ve reached the speed limit or it already exceeds by 5, 10, or 15% of the limit.

Of course the app encourages you to use hands free, voice controlled settings when using this feature (and anything else actually) while driving. For now, the only countries where this feature is available are the following: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic, El Salvador, France, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, Trinidad, Tobago and Uruguay. They did promise that it will be available in more countries soon.

But if you live in any of those mentioned, then you’d want to check for the update on your Waze app. If you’re driving, always be careful not just to not go over the speed limit but to also focus on your driving and just let Waze do its job.
