Because video streaming is all the rage now with mobile devices, Verizon wanted to get in on the action. Just last month they announced that they were launching a free service pretty soon, and asked people to sign up if they were interested. Well that day has finally come as they announced the the go90 video app is now available for download and use for your Android smartphones or tablets. It’s open to even non-Verizon subscribers, but some content may be limited to their customers only.
The app is called go90 because we almost always automatically rotate our phones 90 degrees when watching videos (even though a lot of people still insist on taking videos vertically). You’ll be able to discover various video content and channels within the app, created by partners and also made by other users that you follow. There are also “celebrities” who will be making content for the app, although they haven’t really named who are those.
You can create “Crews” (we guess Squad was already taken or something) or a group of friends who you regularly share videos with or communicate with. One thing that this app does that other video apps like it cannot do is to cut and share video clips with your friends or just to get more followers. The app has original shows like “LA Story”, “OMG”, as well as already existing programs, plus concerts and various other video content.
Anyone using any carrier can download the app for free from the Google Play Store. But they did say that they will also be offering content that will be exclusive for Verizon subscribers only. And since all the content are free, expect ads within the app and between the videos as well.
