Some good news for those carrying a Verizon branded DROID DNA — you have an update coming. And yes it is Kit Kat. More specifically, the update will bring Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat along with Sense 5.5. We’ve yet to see the changelog from Verizon, however the update is set to begin later this week.
HTC product manager Mo Versi has shared the good news by way of Twitter. He thanked DNA owners for their patience and mentioned how the update will begin rolling out on April 24th.
“DNA Owners! Appreciate your patience, we have technical approval for OS 4.4.2 + Sense 5.5. Expect OTA updates to start on 4/24. Thanks!”
It feels like this has been a long time coming for DROID DNA users. We hope this brings some new life to an aging device. But while this is good news, there is likely another side here.
We aren’t sure HTC or Verizon will be pushing any future (major) updates to the DROID DNA. You will be getting the latest (4.4.2) version of Android, however there is a possibility you could be stuck with a now older version of Sense.
Regardless, getting stuck at Android 4.4.2 and Sense 5.5 sounds much better as compared to Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5.
