Aside from the Xperia Z5 line, Sony also has an ultimate winner in the Xperia M4 Aqua. It’s one of the highly anticipated smartphones from the brand because it’s totally waterproof although some people made the mistake of putting their phone underwater for too long. Finally, the smartphone is now available in the United States. More good news: it’s unlocked.

The unlocked version of the phone is now listed on Amazon with a lower price. From $299, it’s down to $199 and completely unlocked. This mean no contracts or plans for a carrier. It’s up to you which network or SIM you want to use because it’s compatible with most GSM Networks in the United States including Cricket Wireless, h20 Wireless, Net10, Simple Mobile, Brightspot, MetroPCS, and Straight Talk. Sadly, units from Amazon are not compatible with US Cellular and Verizon.

The Xperia M4 Aqua sports a waterproof design so you are free to bring it near the pool or by the beach. You can get rained on and not worry about your phone getting wet. Making it more impressive is the two-day worth of battery life which is quite a feat today.

To review, the Android 5.0 Lollipop-powered M4 Aqua comes equipped with a 5-inch HD screen, 1280 x 720 resolution, 13MP camera, 5MP front-facing cam with 22mm wide angle lens, 2400 mAh battery, 2GB RAM, 16GB on-board storage, and a microSD card slot. Phone is IP65/68 rated which means it’s really waterproof.

  1. I read the reviews about the phone heating up. But I still bought one… It really gets hot! And I was only transferring info from my old phone, not playing games or watching videos. The only other real complaint is all the bloatware (camera and screen not so great, but I don’t care). A 16gb phone only has 9gb available to the user. That’s not a good starting point. Some can be removed but the rest will probably require rooting to get rid of. I looked into rooting and there doesn’t seem to be any one click options. So, it’s tedious to get the bootloader unlocked. If anyone knows of any easy way to get rid of bloatware or rooting, let me know. Thanks!
