Timehop started it all. Facebook’s On This Day feature followed suit. #ThrowbackThursday is a regular feature on social networks every, well, Thursday. Now, Google Photos is doing its part to bring you nostalgic feels by giving you a trip down memory lane. The opt-in feature will show you photos taken from a year ago, two years before that, and even as long as ten years back, as long as they are backed up on the app.

This is an opt-in feature for Google Photos so that means if you don’t want to be reminded what happened this day a few years ago, you can choose not to turn it on. But if you do want to rediscover past joys and fun, then you have another app to do throwbacks and flashbacks for you, especially for all your photos and videos are stored into Google Photos. In the Assistant section, you’ll be able to receive cards to show collages of people and places from your past on that day.

And if you want to remind other people that were part of those memories, you can also share these collages, either in private through email or messages or through social networks (as long as you think twice about possibly embarrassing some people). But also, you can choose just to look at it in private and by yourself.

You can now enjoy this walk down memory lane on the web version of Google Photos. It is still rolling out to the Android app, so be patient if it’s not there yet for you.
