If you’ve always wanted to get a tour of the White House, especially during the holiday season, but you live too far away, well put on your Google Cardboards and ready your eyes, because it is now possible to do so from where you are. The White House just published on their official YouTube account a 360 virtual tour of the famous structure on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, all decked out in its festive holiday decorations. And if you have Google Cardboard, you’ll enjoy it even more.

The 5-minute video was published on the official YouTube account of the White House and features not just historical tidbits about the yearly decorations but an actual tour of the various rooms and nooks and crannies of the President’s “house”. We assume that this has been pre-approved by the Secret Service of course, otherwise, there will probably be big problems for them. You get to see all the different Christmas trees scattered around the building, and even get to “meet” the staff who sends their Christmas greetings of course.

You can still watch the video even if you don’t have Google Cardboard of course. But it is more fun and immersive if it’s in VR mode through your headset. All you need to do is choose the cardboard icon from the YouTube app, put your smartphone into a Google Cardboard viewer. Choose the highest video setting, either 720 or 1080 so you can fully enjoy the video.

The Google Cardboard is a do-it-yourself kind of viewer and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg, so it’s a pretty good buy if you’d like to discover the world of virtual reality. You can check out the various viewers (and sellers) that you can get through Google’s store.
