“If This Then That” is a popular (and free!) automation tool for Android users who don’t have the time to learn the steep learning curve from hardcore Android automation tools like Tasker. IFTTT is the more user friendly version, and it has now partnered with popular scheduling and productivity app “Todoist” to facilitate easy automation for creating tasks.

Imagine a situation like this – what if your phone could automatically create a reminder for you to bring an umbrella tomorrow morning if it detects that the weather forecast for tomorrow has a high probability of rain? That’s pretty novel – and useful – and just the kind of stuff that the partnership of IFTTT and Todoist can bring you.

IFTTT calls these variable situations “recipes” – which is really just a fancy name for a specific situation where you would want IFTTT to create a similarly specific task. Like “If I miss a call, then create a task for me to call back” – a pretty simple thing, but very useful.

If you are a Todoist user, then this should come as a boon for you. Check out the video below if you have never used an automation tool before and to see how IFTTT works with Todoist.
