When you stick to the main roads and highways (like we do), Google Maps should be more than enough navigation help for you. But for the adventuring types – those who frequent trails and do off-road driving – they need a different level of GPS navigation help, those that give them more data about these lesser-travelled roads than Google Maps does. For that, there is the Magellan eXplorist TRX7.

The Magellan eXplorist TRX7 is a GPS car navigation module made by Powersports, and will be displayed at the AIMExpo in Orlando, Florida starting on Thursday. This nav module was designed with the off-roading enthusiast in mind. The module gives you more information about driver safety when driving these roads, and detailed 3D maps and community-generated trail data.

What it is physically is robust, top say the least. You have the module encased in rugged weatherproof material, meeting IP67 dust and water resistance certification. You get a 7-inch LCD display, with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and is powered by a dual-core Cortex A9 processor. The whole device runs on Android 4.2. It has 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and a microSD expansion slot.

The focus on storage is so that the device can accommodate new maps for trails as they are developed. Right out of the box, you get data for over 44,000 trails, all with high resolution images and 3D terrain rendering. The Magellan eXplorist TRX7 will be available for USD$599.

  1. Magellan GPPS devices and maps have always been subpar. I think most enthusiasts willstick with garmin or even TomTom, before using a Magellan device.

  2. Here is something to pay attention , a great opportunity for work for those who want to use their free time to make money using their computers… I have been doing this since last two years and I am making 40 to 70 dollars per hour … In the last week I have made 12,245 for almost 18 hours sitting ….

?There are no special skills required just basic typing and an internet connection ….

?There are no time constraints … You may do this any time when you are free ….

?Here is what I’ve been doing….
