If you could have a device that has a high pixel density, probably the highest there is now in the market, and an impressive sounding mobile camera but it comes from a lesser known Chinese brand that is not Xiaomi or Huawei, would you take the risk? Well according to China’s TENAA certification, that’s exactly what the new Gionee smartphone will be offering you. Called the Elife E8, it comes with a 23MP main camera that will be able to produce 100MP photos.
Gionee has actually teased that their upcoming new smartphone will carry that 23MP camera, which may be one of the most impressive mobile cameras around, pixel-wise at least. A previous GFXBench result also indicated that this new phone will have a 4.6-inch display with a 1440×2560 pixels (QHD) and 639 ppi which means it will have the world’s crispest display because of its high pixel density. It will also reportedly run on a 2GHz octa core processor, will have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. It will also have a fingerpirnt scanner and a 3520mAh battery.
To be able to make that 100mp photo, it also involves the “stitching” that the Oppo Find 7 uses for its 50MP pictures. It may also be using the same module as the 23.8MP sensor from OmniVision which they introduced last year. It will be able to take 4K video at 30fps, have HDR in real-time but on video only, as well as auto-focus.
Since they have already received the TENAA certification, it shouldn’t take long until Gionee officially introduces the Elfie E8 to the market. The only question is if the market outside of China will be receptive to this device or if they will even release it in other regions.
