Mobilebits has probably made a ton of cash and game dev rep out of its SoulCraft franchise on Android. The latest release, SoulCraft 2: League of Angels, was a graphically beautiful RPG hack-and-slash game. And yet here we are once more with another addition to the SoulCraft family – this time a MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game called Heroes of SoulCraft – that is interesting enough to look at because of its cross-platform premise.
It feels like this author is caught in some sort of “softlaunch hell” today, because that’s all I’ve been writing about – games on softlaunch. This particular one has been outed by Mobilebits as an Alpha release to some European territories, sadly not in the US as of yet. For those unfamiliar with what a MOBA game is, it features a contained map with two teams of players trying to simultaneously defend their base and destroy the enemy base. Whoever destroys the enemy base first, wins.
Heroes of SoulCraft allows players have the option of joining a 2v2 match which usually lasts 5 minutes, or a 4v4 match which lasts around 15 minutes. The game comes with over 12 heroes, each with their own attack types and characteristics (melee, ranged, magic, etc.).
The game is cross-platform – players can expect to play with other players from other platforms such as iOS and even on PC (there is a PC game). If a player leaves a match before it is finished, or his connection drops, the game will automatically place a new player on the map. Pretty interesting, right? If you get to try it out, gives us some feedback.
