So Android Nougat is officially here, and it’s right about that time where all of us are waiting for manufacturers to say which of their devices will get the official bump up to Android 7.0. Japanese manufacturers Sony has now just made known which Xperia devices will get the upgrade, and Sony Xperia Z3 owners need to look away now.
Sony announced in light of the recent launch of Android 7.0 Nougat that a bunch of its Xperia devices will get an official upgrade. These include the Sony Xperia Z3+ (or Z4, in Japan), the Xperia Z4 Tablet, the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, and the Xperia Z5 Premium. Also included are the devices from the new X series—the Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra and the Xperia X Performance.
Obviously missing out on the upgrade is the gorgeous Sony Xperia Z3, still one of the best looking phones that Sony put out. With its Snapdragon 801 chipset and 3GB RAM, it’s probably right there on the edge of just officially missing out, so too bad.
Sony reminds us, though, that the official upgrades will be a “passed process” and that this will mostly be dependent on the region and specific mobile operators as well. Sony usually takes its time with firmware updates, so we advise all you Xperia owners to sit tight for a while as we wait for Nougat to finally arrive for your device.
