There has been much ado about the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium’s 4K display – the only 4K display on a smartphone out in the market today. What does it do? What does it not do? A lot of techie consumers are concerned about the battery impact of such a high pixel density screen. Well, fret you not – Sony is answering your questions, but it’s not anything you haven’t thought about before.
First up – what does it do and not do? As far as Sony is willing to say, the 4K display is only used to its full resolution on a few occasions – including viewing 4K content that you recorded on the device with the 4K-capable camera of the Xperia Z5, or when playing 4K content from streaming services. Everything else – including your homescreen and regular app usage – is displayed in Full HD (1080p).
Sony also gives us the main reason for this – which is very logical, if we may add. The reason for switching is that while Sony does have that 3,430mAh battery on the Xperia Z5, and the Qualcomm chipset pitches in with its quick charging feature, using 4K on everything will still have a big impact on battery life, so the decision to downscale to 1080p on normal usage was needed. Secondly, there are very few apps, if any, that are designed to run on 4K resolution.
That said, with these features in the phone, Sony says that it is confident that the Xperia Z5 Premium will give you prime performance when you need it, even in 4K. Sony has even put in a STAMINA Mode, where it kills off unneeded processes and connectivity when not being used. It’s going to be a few weeks still before the Xperia Z5 Premium rolls out in November, but it looks to be a monster phone – something that Sony desperately needs for its business.

It’ such a non sense.. More than FHD on a smartphone is just hype.
I guess you’re an expert in 4k phones right?
My quad HD screen on my Galaxy s6 is visible in any light setting no matter how bright it is outside so I would say that above full HD does make a difference in some situations. Not to mention it’s considered the best screen on the market along with the edge and note 5.
I’ll bet when iPhone comes out with a QHD resolution phone call you’ll be singing its praises.
guys you know how much is going to be the sony z5 premium in USA
