It’s actually pretty interesting to see that developers and tech companies are creating products or other versions of their existing products that would be of use to those who either have slow connection or their devices aren’t high end enough to have enough space or memory. We’ve been seeing lite versions of several apps hit the market. The latest to do so is music discover service Shazam and if you live in the selected countries where it’s available, you’ll be able to enjoy finding out what song is playing, even when you’re offline.

Of course since it’s a lite version, you won’t be able to enjoy all of the features of the original app. But if your issue is extremely slow Internet connection or your phone can’t handle another new app, then you’d probably want just the basics. The Shazam Lite version is just under 1MB so it will not take up much space. You’ll still be able to identify the song that is currently playing just like the full version. As a bonus, if you currently don’t have connection, you’ll still be able to save the data and when you finally get Internet, the titles of the song will appear in your history.

The app is actually designed to work across networks, including 2G networks and areas that have slow Internet connection and it also takes up little space not just in the storage but also in their device’s memory. It doesn’t have some of the features from the full version like syncing all of your Shazam across all devices or follow your favorite artists and get updates from them, or preview songs and add them to Spotify playlists or launch a Pandora radio based on a song.

But if all you want to do is to find out what song is playing, then Shazam Lite should be enough. It’s now available in India, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines and Nigeria in English language, and in Spanish in Venezuela. You can download the app from the Google Play Store for free.
