The Space Needle is one of – if not THE most iconic – landmark in the city of Seattle and has been what most people remember about the city (that and the rain, of course) since it was built in 1962 for the World’s Fair. In 2015, it’s still going strong, providing locals and tourists alike with magnificent views of the city, Puget Sound, and to wherever your eyes can reach. Today the management of the Space Needle jump on the virtual reality (VR) bandwagon by launching an app that will provide users with VR headsets to experience the Needle’s amazing views.
The app is called Space Needle 360⁰ and if you have a VR headset, the app will give you stunning views taken from the Needle itself. You can choose to “stand” on the Needle’s spire – one of the highest points you can go on the building – and with the app, see a 360-degree view of Seattle on a perfect day. That in itself should already be worth the effort of downloading the app.
You can also choose to “walk around” the halo, that is, the outer ring of the main building – for a more manual approach to looking at the views which are no less amazing than from the spire. The app also gives you a view of Seattle taken from a seaplane in flight over the city. Check out the videos we posted if you want a preview to what you’ll see via the app.
