Sunrise users, you knew this day was coming, but it’s still pretty sad, yes? In a post entitled “One last note, from us to you”, the beloved calendar app is officially saying goodbye for good. They announced what’s going to happen next to the app, or rather what’s not going to happen, for users who’re still in denial and refuse to move on. But the good news is that Sunrise is indeed moving on, at least its features, to the newly updated Outlook Calendar.

The sad news first of course. As of today, your Sunrise app will no longer be updating and if you do add any new event or edit any entries, it will no longer reflect on the other platforms. The day after, you will then be logged out of your account but your information will still be available on the original platform that you’ve been using, like Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, etc. So yes, it really is time to officially say goodbye.

But Microsoft, which bought Sunrise last year, has good news for those looking for an alternative. As promised, a lot of the features that you’ll be missing from Sunrise is slowly being integrated into the Outlook Calendar. Along with the previously introduced Calendar Apps which lets you connect to other apps like Wanderlust, Evernote, etc, you can also now subscribe to Interesting Calendars, like your sports team’s schedule of games and soon, your favorite TV shows as well.

Other changes to the calendar feature may be familiar to Google Calendar users. You will now see event icons for things like dinner, coffee, concerts, etc. You can also now add a place to your appointments and it will include a map with your event details and also directions to the venue. Date and time pickers have also been improved, editing for recurring events has been added for mobile, and adding Skype for Business meetings from your phone is also now allowed. Are you convinced now that Outlook can be your new calendar?
