Samsung Pay is now available in Spain. We learned about its arrival in the European country last week as the first stop. The mobile payment method has been around since July 2015. It first became available in South Korea and then the United States and China only recently. We know it’s also coming to Singapore, United Kingdom, Brazil, and Australia.

Samsung Pay is one secure mobile payment service that accepts payment on a compatible terminal with NFC. You only need to swipe your fingerprint to finalize a purchase. Interestingly, it is the first of its kind to be available in Spain.

Samsung has partnered with several banks and financial institutions in Spain to provide consumers a “safer, smarter and better mobile wallet”. According to Samsung Pay’s Global Director Victor Kim, “Samsung operates an open model of partnership and collaboration to deliver the best possible customer experience. With Samsung Pay, we’re confident that we’re providing Spanish customers with the mobile payments service that they’re looking for.”

As the first market in Europe, Spain is fortunate to receive the innovative service that will bring some significant changes to the payments scene.  Samsung is positive that Samsung Pay will be a success in Spain because of the “high smartphone penetration rate and digitalisation of the banking sector” in the country.

Samsung Pay is secure, simple, and available anywhere. Samsung makes use of tokenization in encrypting card credentials, fingerprint authorization, and Samsung KNOX. It’s easy to use because you only need to swipe your finger to pay anywhere where a contactless credit/debit card is accepted.

Samsung Pay only works on the latest Galaxy phones like the Galaxy S7, S7 edge, Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, and the new Galaxy A5 2016. Some of Samsung’s bank partners in Spain including CaixaBank, imaginBank, Abanca, Banco Sabadell. Stores and brands that will accept Samsung Pay are as follows:
