Android 7.0 Nougat is now available on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. More premium flagship Galaxy phones will also receive the chewy goodness but while waiting, we know some apps will benefit from the Nougat update. Similarly, the Samsung Note app was recently updated and was given support for Android 7.0 Nougat. Even if you are only running Nougat beta, you can still take advantage of the updated Samsung Notes app.

If you are now on Nougat, you can see the update on the Google Play Store. Otherwise or if you are only on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, you won’t be able to locate the new version. One of the major changes aside from support for Nougat is what they call “color extraction function”. There’s also the ability to utilize a smaller Samsung Notes home screen widget if you prefer a smaller one.

If you may remember, the Samsung Notes app was released as part of the Galaxy Note 7. The latter has since been recalled and discontinued so Samsung decided to at least bring it to other Galaxy models after being first launched with the S6. We knew it was only about time when the South Korean tech giant will announce the Notes app ready for other Galaxy models. The new update for Nougat will definitely make any smartphone more powerful and useful especially when it comes to note-taking.
