A few days ago we found out that the rumors (well at least some of them) were true after all: Samsung has introduced a new fitness band, the Gear Fit2 GPS Sports Band and it is now available in selected markets, including the US, Canada, and Australia. This wearable is really meant for tracking all your various fitness activities and showing you the progress you’ve made. But it also brings you notifications from your connected device and services and even play music on its own.

The Gear Fit2 has a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED curved display and is powered by a dual core 1GHz AP. It has a 512MB RAM and a 4GB internal storage and its battery is at 200mAh. It is IP68 certified so it is water proof, which is a pretty standard thing for fitness bands of course. It has various sensors like GPS, Heart Rate monitor, Accelerometer, Gyro, and Barometer. It is compatible with Android smartphones that are running on Android 4.4 and above, so even if you’re not a Samsung user, you still get to use this fitness band.

The wearable gives you an “accurate and robust fitness tracking and measurement” since it has the necessary sensors to do so. It automatically detects the type of activity you’re doing and can monitor 15 different activities including walking, running, elliptical training, pilates, cycling, lunging, etc. It also has a standalone music player so you have a musical accompaniment to your workout, even without your phone nearby. if you’re the competitive type, you can compete with your friends who are also using S Health wth the “Steps Challenges”.

The Samsung Gear Fit2 is available in three colors: black, blue, and pink. It also has two sizes: small (for those wit 125-170 mm wrists) and large (for 155-210mm wrist sizes). It has a price tag of $180 and can be bought from the Samsung website, Amazon, and BestBuy.

  1. Fact is Gear Fit 2 is not available in Canada. I agree. The US and Australia have it. Not sure about the other countries. Your lying about Canada so really who can trust you when you say it’s for sale in this or that place. Shame on you #Samsung. What rates Australia over Canada? #Samsung the press release you put out is dishonest period.
