The latest Galaxy device to receive the fluffy Marshmallow update is a tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 which was launched last year is only getting Android 6.0 this Summer after the tech giant rolled out the same mobile OS version for the Galaxy Tab A in South Korea. There are other Galaxy Tab A models but for now, the 8.0 variant is lucky to get the firmware update worth over 1GB.

Similar to most Android Marshmallow updates, this one brings a number of new features, functions, and performance enhancements to the tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 will receive the following new features: Doze Mode, Google Now on Tap 200 new emojis, app permissions, lock screen shortcuts, and a multi-user mode. The last feature is special because it allows the family to share on tablet and take advantage of multiple user accounts.

The newest firmware version should be released over-the-air (OTA) from your mobile carrier but if you’re too impatient to wait, just check the phone settings on your own. Go to Settings> About device, and then Software update. We’re not quite sure if this will be Android 6.0 or Android 6.0.1 but at least we know it’s eligible for the newest Android Marshmallow update.

We’re expecting other Samsung Galaxy Tab A variants will be “Marshmallowed” as well in the coming weeks.
