We were right about our speculation that the special Olympic edition of the Galaxy S7 edge would be unveiled in the next few days. Samsung has recently introduced the Olympic Games Limited Edition of the Galaxy S7 edge  as one way to celebrate its being a Worldwide Olympic Partner. The South Korean tech giant will be a big part of the Wireless Communications Equipment category during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

With this limited edition smartphone, Samsung has also announced the Rio 2016 app, as well as, on-the ground activations in Brazil as part of the campaign and celebration. The company will also be glad to sponsor and give each of the Olympians the Olympic edition of the Android smartphone. Samsung partnered with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to make all these happen and everyone is positive that the Galaxy S7 edge will help the athletes have a wonderful experience in Rio and at the same time, allow them to communicate with their friends and families back home.

This Samsung Galaxy S7 edge features an Olympic Games design. You will see the Olympic Rings all throughout the phone–at the back panel, home, lock screen. The user interface will have the colors of the rings prominent in the user interface. Themed wallpapers will be pre-loaded together with the Olympic Athletes’ Hub app.

Samsung will also be giving pairs of Gear IconX cord-free earbuds to the Olympians. The earbuds can work as a music player and as an in-ear heart rate monitor for them that can be used with the S Health app.  This year’s Olympics is one of the best ways for Samsung to show off what the S Health app and other new products can offer.

No mention of how many units of the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition phones will be manufactured and sold but they will be available starting July 18 in South Korea, China, US, Germany, and Brazil. No word on pricing yet.

Apart from the phone, Samsung is launching interactive studios throughout key cities in Brazil where people can experience virtual reality. There are different activities where they can feel the Olympic Spirit and cheer. Samsung will also be offering the Olympic Games pins and the latest Samsung products.

Feel free to download the Rio 2016 App from the Google Play Store. Use the app to be updated on Olympic news. App will be updated in a few weeks to include the Olympic Games schedule, venue information, results, and medal counts among others.
