It’s not unusual to hear of rumors that contradict each other. They are just rumors after all. These two latest ones for the awaited Galaxy S5 Mini could make your heart jump or break it, depending on who you believe, or want to believe.

Though reception has been mixed, no one can deny that the Galaxy S5 sports the best of the best hardware specs, so it is only natural to expect the miniature version to be equally high, at least compared to the Galaxy S4 Mini. Indeed, one rumor holds that the Galaxy S5 Mini will run on a 2.3 Ghz quad-core processor, probably a Snapdragon 800 or 801 and have a screen resolution of 1280×720, allegedly crammed in a 4.5-inch screen. It sounds so dreamy and too good to be true.

The second set of specs comes via leaked GFXBench scores and shows a more toned down, even disappointing, hardware. It puts a 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 inside. The 720p resolution stays the same though in a surprisingly larger 4.8-inch screen. This does sound more like a less powerful Mini in line with the other Minis, though the larger size does make us a bit doubtful.

Both Samsung’s and OPPO‘s flagships had conflicting rumors, but they ended up quite differently. OPPO actually revealed two smartphones, while Samsung had only one. It’s a bit too early to put money on one or the other rumor, but interested buyers would undoubtedly root for the better one, as long as the price won’t be as high.

  1. In the top one the CPU is said to be ARM11, what would be ARMv6.
While all Cortex and Krait are ARMv7 (ARMv8 has yet to come).

  2. From previous versions; it usually the same specs as the flagship previous Galaxy S with even a further lower screen resolution then the last generation S had.
