US Cellular has been pretty good about getting Kit Kat on Samsung devices. We’ve recently seen Android 4.4.2 updates arrive for the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II. And as of today it looks like a similar update is rolling out for two more handsets.
This latest round includes an update for the Galaxy S4 mini and the Galaxy Mega. The updates are what we have been seeing in terms of Kit Kat updates, and will leave both the Galaxy S4 mini and Galaxy Mega with Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat. Otherwise, the Galaxy S4 mini will be bumped to baseband R890TYUBNE4. The Galaxy Mega will end up with baseband version R960TYUBNF1.
If you happen to be a US Cellular with either of these devices you now have the usual array of options. You can sit back and wait for the update notification to arrive on your handset, or you can take the proactive approach and try to grab it now. The update will need to be downloaded over a WiFi connection, and otherwise, those looking to grab the update now can head into the settings to check manually.
Alternatively, US Cellular also offers the option to grab the update using Kies. This is the slightly more complicated method as it involves a computer and USB connection. US Cellular and Samsung have offered some directions for those looking to use Kies, and those can be found at the source link sitting below.
But in terms of the update, this one promises a more user friendly interface, faster multitasking, wireless printing and a new messaging (Hangouts) experience.
