The Samsung Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 became official middle of last year and we’ve been saying the pair will soon have the latest models. They’re supposed to be different from the Galaxy J1 leaked and then announced officially in Dubai only last January. Both the J5 and J7 came with front-facing cameras with LED flashes so they are ideal for the selfie addicts.

The 2016 Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 have been spotted recently at TENAA which means the models will be announced very soon. TENAA is equivalent to the FCC in the US so this means the phones are already approved and ready for commercial release. Looking at the specs, we can expect the Galaxy J5 and J7 seem to have almost the same specs. Of course, the J7’s screen is bigger at 5.5-inches compared to the 5.2-inch screen of the J5.

The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) also comes equipped with the following: 13MP main camera, 5MP front-facing cam, 1.2 GHz quad-core chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, and microSD card slot. The Galaxy J7 is available in two models–SM-J7108 and SM-J7109. The difference will be on the processors–1.6 GHz octa-core processor and 1.5 GHz/1.2 GHz octa-core processor, respectively. Other specs include 3GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage, 5MP selfie cam, 13MP rear camera, and an unconfirmed battery. It’s either a 3300 mAh or a 4300 mAh batt.

We can also expect the two to run Android 5.1 Lollipop, unfortunately. No Android 6.0 yet but there is still hope that Samsung will have the Marshmallow ready in time for launch. We’ll see.
