Looks like more Chromebooks are getting the much anticipated Play Store support. Both the Samsung Chromebook 3 and the HP Chromebook 13 (HP 13 G1) are almost ready to get the feature and soon be able to run most Android apps. Numbers of devices able to run Android apps are increasing as just recently, the ASUS C301SA and Dell 13 also received the important update.
There are more Chromebooks getting the same Play Store support such as the Samsung Chromebook 3 and we can expect more will be added to the list as soon as switched to the Developer channel. Some of the latest models that got the Google Play Store support include the Acer Chromebook R13, Chromebook Pixel 2015, Acer R11, and Chromebook Pixel 2.
Next in line is the NOOK Table 7. Google earlier listed the model that will get the Play Store and run apps later this year and 2017 so expect more from the likes of ASUS, Acer, Dell, Haier, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Toshiba, as well as, those models we have really heard from other OEMs such Aopen, Bobicus, Edxis, Hexa, and Viglen among others.
Google Play Store support is available on different channels from Beta to Developer to the Stable Channel. We’re not sure how fast Google devs have been working on the updates but we have a feeling some OEMs still have the last say when the software update will really be ready for a particular Chromebook. We’ll see.
