The NVIDIA SHIELD is still arguably the most powerful Android device out there on the market – this is why it is able to promise and run high-profile games like Metal Gear Rising, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and War Thunder among others. At this point, it’s refreshing to see CAPCOM finally releasing something for the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Console, even though Resident Evil 5 is a 7-year-old game at best.

In 2009, Resident Evil 5 was one of the more graphically intensive games, following the footsteps of RE4 in giving gamers full 3D rendering and over-the-shoulder shooting gameplay. This will be something that the 256-core Maxwell GPU of the NVIDIA SHIELD will be able to run without any problems. The real problem is that RE5 polarized a lot of fans of the franchise – some liked it, and some vehemently disliked it. So it’s a coin toss really.

But for the sake of playing a classic game on your Android TV console, you might want to try this. If you opted for the 250GB model of the SHIELD console, the 5.5GB size of the game will not be a problem. If you picked the entry level 16GB model, you might have to do some gymnastics with your storage. Adopt some external storage, maybe?

At the moment, the game is available via the Google Play Store (see link below) for a discounted price of USD$9.99. It will rise to USD$15.00 at some point. Also, this is available only for the NVIDIA SHIELD for now, but will probably make its way to other Android devices soon.
