Now that the days are getting colder and vacation time is almost upon us, a lot of people will probably be holed up in their respective houses with their respective devices and streaming services, binge watching the shows they’ve missed or included in their to be watched list. That’s why apps like Plex for Android are beefing up their features to reward existing users and to attract new ones who prefer watching or streaming videos from their own devices. The latest update brings support for adoptable storage, among other things.

Just a few days ago, the app added Plex Cloud, which is support for streaming media from cloud storage services like Google Drive and Dropbox. Now, with version 5.2 of the app, it adds support for adoptable storage. Previously, if you saved files on your microSD, the app doesn’t recognize them and will not play them. Now, finally, you can make use of adoptable storage so you can add your movies, music, TV shows, and other videos. If you use Plex on Android TV, you also get a new change. When picking a new location, you can jump directly to the library hub.

You will also now be able to access an options menu from the search results through the Android app. If you like reading the lyrics while listening to a song, Plex has updated this function to make it much clearer for you to do so. There are lots of other minor updates and changes that you may or may not notice while you’re streaming all the episodes of your favorite show, if they’re stored on your devices.

You can update the Plex for Android app from its Google Play page, since the update has been rolling out for users already. Happy streaming this Christmas season!
