PCMark for Android is trying to break into the benchmarking hegemony of such hugely popular benchmarking apps as AnTuTu, GFXBench, and GeekBench. But it’s not into offering what those other apps already do – which a simple benchmark of the devices performance. PCMark would like to give you a wider range of information about your device in addition to the simple performance numbers, and this update to the app will give you even more data to crunch.

PCMark is updating its Work benchmark test – the suite’s multitasking performance measurement test – to Work 2.0, which will tell you how your device handles common productivity tasks like browsing, editing videos, working with documents and data, and editing photos. This test has been updated to include video editing and data manipulation processes.

The Work 2.0 test has also been updated to add a test for the performance and battery life your Android device. PCMark understands that battery life is an important element in what consumers look for in a device, and measurements in this aspect would be a great help.
