Scientific Oregon has become the latest company to enter the fitness band market. The entry is the Ssmart Dynamo (complete with the double ss) activity band and it brings support for select Android handsets. Or more to the point, the Ssmart Dynamo brings support for the Galaxy S4 and other devices running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or later.

The band will be able to offer 24/7 tracking and is available with Scientific Oregon beginning today. Scientific Oregon has also said the Ssmart Dynamo will arrive in retail stores sometime in 2014. The price is $99. Aside from simply saying 24/7 tracking, that will includes details on your sleep time, steps taken, distance travelled, calories burned and more.

The Ssmart Dynamo also features an adjustable band, the ability to store up to 14 days worth of data, a rechargeable battery and an easy-read LED light display. The band also has a 4-color activity level indicator. For this, red means inactive, yellow is low activity, green is moderate activity and blue is the color you likely want to see — it means your activity goals have been met.

Otherwise, the band uses Bluetooth Smart to help keep from draining the battery of your smartphone and assuming the two are paired, the data from the band will sync with the app running on your smartphone. The app itself will let you view and also share your progress during the day, but also offers a few other goodies such as taking care of the initial setup process.
