OPPO knows innovation. It has an edge over other OEMs as it is able to launch new phones with the latest technologies. Last year, we’ve seen the OPPO Find X that allowed an almost bezel-less display. Thanks to the hidden pop-up camera, OPPO was able to achieve a full display screen. This time around, OPPO may join the likes of Huawei and Samsung with the punch-hole camera design. Huawei already has the Nova 4 and the Honor View20 while Samsung has the Galaxy A8s (A9 Pro) and the upcoming Galaxy S10 phones.
OPPO is expected to launch a new phone with the punch-hole camera design. There is no official announcement yet but a patent gives us an idea. A document shows apps icons placed near the camera hole in front.
The World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) has received two related patents by OPPO. They show some hints about a ‘Mobile phone with app icon interface’. We see a full-screen phone with the new camera cutout screen placed on the upper left part of the screen.
Just beside the selfie camera, you can see different app icons. We learned that swiping from the selfie camera will show other icons to show even more icons. This idea is similar to the Samsung Galaxy A8s camera hole display being animated.
We’ll see the next OPPO flagship at the OPPO 2019 Innovation Event to be held next month at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
