We have been following all the teasers that Oppo has been offering on its new smartphones the R7 and R7 Plus. Oppo has now stopped teasing and is offering up images and specifications on both of these smartphones along with a launch date for China. Sadly, an international launch date hasn’t been unveiled so far.
What we do know is that the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus will launch in China on May 21. Pricing in China will be RMB 2499 for the R7 and RMB 2999 for the R7 Plus. The R7 runs the ColorOS 2.1 based on Android 4.4. The processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 octa-core unit operating at 1.5GHz.
That processor is made with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Oppo uses a 5-inch AMOLED display with native resolution of 1920 x 1080 and 453ppi. The rear camera uses a 13MP Sony Exmor IMX214 BSI sensor. That camera can shoot full HD video and the front camera is an 8MP unit. GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a slew of sensors are integrated.
The R7 plus uses ColorOS 2.1 based on Android 5.1 and has the same processor under the hood with the same 3GB of RAM found in the R7. Storage is increased to 32GB and it uses a larger 6-inch AMOLED with 1920 x 1080 resolution and 377ppi. The front and rear cameras are the same and it has the same sensors, GPS, and WiFi capability. The R7 Plus also has dual SIM slots.
