In line with Sony’s announcement that PlayStation Vue will now be available on the Android TV platform, the NVIDIA SHIELD – probably the best Android TV device of the all at this point in time – is also getting an update that will bring Sony’s premium streaming service to the device, as well as security updates and audio enhancements.
The update will bring the NVIDIA SHIELD up to version 3.3, and it will primarily bring the PlayStation Vue app to the Android TV console. NVIDIA also says that it will add the latest security updates from Google to the device, and bring new audio enhancements such as DTS:X Audio, which is usable by Plex, Kodi, and MX Player. Dolby Atmos audio is now also available via the Plex app.
Lastly, you might want to check out the new streaming apps to the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV console. These include FandangoNOW for Android TV, CNNgo Breaking US & World News, MTV, Nick, Viki: TV Dramas & Movies, and fuboTV – Live Soccer.
If you haven’t received the notification for the update, you can go into the settings and see if you can manually check for an update. But you shouldn’t sweat it, the notification should arrive to your NVIDIA SHIELD soon enough.
