There are still only a few Android smartphones out there that have fingerprint sensors, but you can expect that this biometric will soon be commonplace amongst devices, at least the higher-end ones. And so several apps have been incorporating fingerprint support over the past few months so as to appeal to those who already have smartphones with the sensors and to prepare as well for when more will have it. The latest app to have fingerprint support is Microsoft’s Next Lock Screen in its latest update.

If you didn’t know it yet, Next Lock Screen is not just a lock screen app to give you more privacy, but it also makes your device more productive even while it is locked. It lets you call or message people, launch your favorite apps, view your calendar, weather, and music player, all while not needing to unlock your screen. With the latest update, the biggest thing is of course the aforementioned support for fingerprint sensors. You can now use your scanner to bypass the screen lock, as long as Next is on your screen.

The update also now brings you Smart Contacts, which learns and displays contacts that you often call and text. You can also now set rules for when you’ll be needing a passcode or when you actually don’t, for when you’re at home or at work or in school. You can also now set up which wallpapers will appear when you’re at a specific location, again whether at your house or at the office.

You can update the Next Lock Screen app now. Or if you haven’t tried it yet, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store.
