The highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was finally launched earlier this week. Before that, Android Nougat was announced by Google. The next big thing to watch out for is the Nexus. Actually, it’s not just one phone but a pair of Nexus phones yet to be unveiled later this year. The HTC Marlin and HTC Sailfish have been been part of the rumor mill for weeks and we’re expecting more information and leaks will be published in the coming weeks and months until official announcement.
According to Android Police, the Android Nougat will bring major changes to the Nexus phones. One noticeable development will be the new layout for the settings apps. The mobile OS is said to include the Google Support tool that will activate the ambient display mode. There’s also the “Night Light” that will effectively give the display a tint of red. The red tint means blue pixels are turned off. The idea is like the blue filter found on the Note 7.
The Night Light, which is actually the Night Mode seen in the Android Nougat Developer Previews. Google has removed the feature in the latest version but it’s expected to be available on the next-gen Nexus phones as the “Night Light”. The tech giant must have solved the issues and recode was probably successful. We’re not expecting it to be perfect though so there is a possibility the feature will only be ready on the upcoming Nexus phones.
There’s the ambient display that can now be managed with double tap. Double-tap on the screen to enable the ambient display mode. It’s an interesting feature but we’re not sure if it will find its way to older models of the Nexus line.
