We’re still a few months away from the launch of Samsung’s new phablet, but of course that hasn’t stopped rumors and “leaks” (or maybe photo edited stuff) to come out. The latest leaked image from China seems to give credence to the previous rumors that the next generation Note will bear the number 7 instead of the expected 6. We’ve heard this before and logically, that move is actually sound, but of course there hasn’t been any confirmation from Samsung that this will happen, especially the launch is still in a couple of months.
But given that the image is just of a number and the phrase “The next note”, we probably can take this leak with a grain of salt. It’s pretty easy to create something like this even on a mobile device, so until we hear something more solid, then we probably should not trust these leaks too much. However, if you really think about it, it does make some kind of sense for the next phablet to be Galaxy Note 7 instead of Galaxy Note 6.
For one thing, it will stop our confusion when it comes to the numbering of the flagships and the flagship phablet. Instead of always remembering that the Note is one generation behind the Galaxy flagships, then at least they will be on the same page from now on. That is, if the rumors are correct.
We have to wait until August or at least a few days before that month to confirm or have a clearer idea if this is true. We might also get an indication by then if it’s true that there will only be one Note model for this year, since the Galaxy Note 7 (or 6) will already have a curved-edge display.
