Republic Wireless has begun accepting orders for the Moto G today. The handset is available in the 8GB and 16GB variant and both are expected to begin shipping in 1-2 weeks. The 8GB model is $149 and the 16GB model is $179 — both are available in black.

As with other Republic Wireless handsets, these are contract-free prices. Once the purchase has been made, you can then pair it any of the Republic Wireless plans — which begin from just $5 per month. For $5 you’ll get unlimited talk and text using WiFi. Step up to $10 per month and you get unlimited talk and text on WiFi and cellular.

Those options should be good for those who can solely rely on WiFi for data. The carrier then has a $25 and $40 per month plan and those are where the cellular data comes in. The former includes unlimited 3G data and the latter includes unlimited 4G data. But while technically unlimited, you will have your speeds slowed if you cross the 5GB mark.

The Moto G is running Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat and sitting with hardware to include; 4.5-inch 720p display, quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 2070 mAh battery, 1.3MP front-facing camera and 5MP rear-facing camera. You also get 50GB of Google Drive storage free for two-years.

We haven’t used the Moto G on Republic Wireless, however we did like the handset when we spent time with another carrier model.
