One thing about Android apps is that there is always a chance that someone will take it to places the author didn’t originally envision. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad one is still undetermined, but Sony Xperia users might appreciate the fact that someone did do this for the Motion Shot camera app.

Sony put up Motion Shot on Google Play Store back in early November. The app isn’t groundbreaking, but it does give users an easy way to combine a series of images or a movie clip into a single image with a sort of shadow effect. Sony placed the app in Google Play Store probably as a way to put out updates faster, as compared to waiting for and rolling out firmware updates just for a single app. Unfortunately, the app was an exclusive feature to the Sony Xperia Z1. At least it was until this unofficial version came along.

A member of the XDA forums ported the Xperia Z1 exclusive app to work on all Sony Xperia phones. At least in theory. The only requirement is that those phones should be running Android 4.0 or higher, which definitely covers a lot of the more recent models. Although this Motion Shot port is intended for Sony’s Xperia devices, some are reporting that it has also worked on other devices, like a Samsung Galaxy S 4.

Take heed that this is an unofficial port of an official Sony app. So the usual disclaimers about using third-party and unsupported apps apply. If you’re feeling adventurous or if you really want to use this particular app, hit the source link below to get the APK.
