In the hopes of re-entering and getting bigger in China, Google, specifically the Android Wear team, has recently partnered with a Chinese startup to finally bring the platform to the country. Mobvoi is known for being an artificial intelligence company that develops technologies in Chinese language. Just recently, it announced that it’s releasing the Moto 360 with Mobvoi-powered Chinese voice controls and voice search. This is the first ever Android Wear device and we’re certain that a lot of people in China are excited for this smartwatch.
This could be one of the first moves by Google, who we mentioned, wants to return to China by helping hardware partners. The partnership with Mobvoi brings localized Android Wear services in the Chinese language. Google isn’t exactly bringing all features just yet to the wearable platform because Mobvoi will still make use of its local partners like Ctrip, Dianping, and Sogu Map.
In case you didn’t know, Mobvoi is one of the most trusted leaders in Chinese voice search. The company is actually the one providing voice service for Google Glass, Android Wear, and its own Ticwear platform. It’s still a young company having been started by a former Google employee in 2012 but its plan to define “human-machine interaction with technology innovations” is something worth taking note of.
No information on pricing and release date yet but the Mobvoi and Android Wear-powered Moto 360 should be available really soon.
