Truth be told, I’ve never warmed to MIUI – which if you don’t recognize the name, it is the skinned user interface that Xiaomi uses as its version of Android for its phones. MIUI has a very iOS feel to it – it’s very streamlined and minimalist, but not lacking in eye candy. It is very easy on the eyes, but I really haven’t developed a liking to it. But a lot of other people have, and they like it, for one reason or another. That is why, this news that MIUI 7 can be installed on non-Xiaomi phones should be good news for some.

MIUI 7 was recently unveilled by Xiaomi, and now we’re hearing that it can be installed on over 65 other non-Xiaomi brand devices. This list includes the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Google Nexus 5, the Sony Xperia Z3, the HTC One M8, and the OnePlus One, to name a few. The full list is available here via the MIUI forums. The question is, will you jump to MIUI?

This newest version of MIUI includes a number of new features that might interest you – this includes a Child Mode option that lets you white-list apps your kids can use, an XXL text mode to make text easier to read, and an automatic creation of “baby albums,” using facial recognition to identify photos of your kids – if that’s your type of thing.

The download links are also available via the list of phones supported, so you better start thinking if you want this new MIUI on your phone. Me? Well, I’m probably not going to make that jump – but that’s just me. How about you?
